Dala, Morris, Rosier sink Cobras

The Titans completed a 10-wicket victory over the Cape Cobras in Wednesday's Momentum One-Day Cup fixture at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Full Scorecard

Chasing a 152-run target, the Titans triumphed with 27.5 overs to spare. Franchise debutant Diego Rosier starred with 92 not out, which spanned 62 deliveries - and featured a dozen fours and twin sixes.

Selected on the back of a solid stretch of form for Northerns in provincial competition and in the absence of ODI returnee Aiden Markram, Rosier was entertainingly aggressive against an opposition bowling attack spearheaded by the experienced Rory Kleinveldt and Vernon Philander.

The win came at somewhat of a cost for the Titans, after opening batsman Jonathan Vandiar retired hurt on 31 due to a hamstring injury.

The result increased their lead over the second-placed Warriors in the 2019 tournament's six-team standings, while the Cobras were left in fourth position.

The Dolphins, Lions and Knights currently occupy third, fifth and sixth spot, respectively.

Earlier, fast bowlers Chris Morris and Junior Dala limited the Cobras to 151 all out in 37.2 overs.

Host captain Heinrich Klaasen's decision to bowl first after winning the toss yielded due reward, as the men from the Western Cape slipped to 96 for five inside 22 overs -- and ultimately an entirely inadequate final total.

Opener Janneman Malan, burgeoning Proteas star Zubayr Hamza and the talented Aviwe Mgijima managed 30 each, but failed to convert the promising starts.

Morris completed figures of 4-23 to Dala's 4-29. The pair were complemented by fellow seamers Tshepo Moreki and Corbin Bosch, who snared a wicket each.

The haul marked the best of Morris's 96-match List A career, bettering the 4-30 clinched for North West during the 2010-2011 season.

Friday will bring intriguing clashes between the Warriors and Knights at Buffalo Park in East London and the Dolphins and Titans at Kingsmead in Durban.
