Let's Play rolls out teacher training

Following on the success of the Let's Play Physical Education Challenge and to make a more lasting impact in the implementation of this component of Life Orientation, SuperSport expanded their offering by providing capacity-building through the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) accredited three-day workshops in Physical Education to full-time educators.

The first leg of training has just been completed in Polokwane, with 62 teachers.

The primary objective of the training programme is to provide full-time educators with the skills and confidence to reinforce the instruction of curriculum-oriented Physical Education and to promote physical activity to all learners.

Each teacher also received Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) compliant sports equipment and lesson plans to conduct phys-ed programmes with their learners. The CAPS equipment will ensure participation with 80 learners at any one time, across a spectrum of more than 500 exercises.

Next training takes place in January in the Eastern Cape.

Let’s Play continues to change lives.
