Yorke, Sherwood join SS for UCL opener

SuperSport has acquired the services of Premier League legends Dwight Yorke and Tim Sherwood for match-day one of the 2017-18 Uefa Champions League.

Yorke, a Champions League winner with Manchester United in 1999 and Sherwood, a shock Premier League champion in 1994-95 with Blackburn Rovers, will provide their expert opinion in the opening round of European football’s premier club competition, which gets under way on Tuesday.

Expressing his delight at the acquisition of the two analysts, SuperSport’s Head of Production Alvin Naicker said, “The Uefa Champions League is club football’s most prestigious competition and continues to be the pinnacle of club football in the world. To maintain this prestige and also deliver a world-class product to our viewers one needs to be supplementing broadcasts with guests and analysts of the highest calibre such as Yorke and Sherwood.”

Completing the World of Champions’ analyst line-up for match day one is another Champions League winner, Sammy Kuffour, the man who was tasked with marking Yorke in the 1999 final.

Matchday one is packed with mouth-watering encounters including the titanic tussle between Barcelona and Juventus, a fixture which was the competition’s showpiece match three seasons ago.
