Lightning and intermittent drizzle finally cleared allowing the long-delayed SA20 match between the Joburg Super Kings and the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to start at 4:15pm, two hours and 15 minutes after the scheduled start.
Moments before the rescheduled five-over contest was due to start, however, the lightning returned and the match officials were forced to abandon the contest without a ball bowled.
JSK captain, Faf du Plessis, won the toss and had chosen to bowl first.
The home side remain the only unbeaten team in the competition so far with three wins from as many matches before the washout and enjoy a three-point lead ahead of today’s opponents who now have 12 points from two bonus-point victories and a defeat in their last game against the Paarl Royals before the washout.
