Evin Lewis smashed 91 from just 44 balls as the West Indies beat Ireland by 62 runs to clinch a T20 series victory in Bready on Sunday.

Lewis and West Indies captain Shai Hope put Ireland to the sword with a swashbuckling 122-run partnership for the first wicket in only 10.3 overs.

The tourists powered to 256 for five from their 20 overs, a daunting total which ranked as their second highest in T20 internationals.

Lewis, 33, was the mainstay of the innings with eight sixes and seven fours, while Hope made 51 from 27 balls.

Keacy Carty maintained his fine recent form with an unbeaten 49 from 22 balls.

Matthew Humphreys was the sole bright spot for Ireland with two for 16 as the West Indies blasted 20 sixes.

After losing Paul Stirling in the second over, Ross Adair and Harry Tector produced a partnership of 101 in 58 balls to give Ireland hope.

Tector made 35 from 28 deliveries before being pinned lbw by Roston Chase and Adair soon departed for 48.

Ireland never recovered from losing three wickets for two runs and ended on 194 for seven, with Mark Adair unbeaten on 31.

Akeal Hosein took three for 27 and Jason Holder picked up two wickets.

The West Indies' win was enough to seal the series after the first two games were abandoned without a ball being bowled on Thursday and Saturday.

The West Indies' second T20 international against Ireland was washed out by heavy rain in Bready on Saturday.

After the opening game of the three-match series was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Thursday, the West Indies were again frustrated by the weather.

The scheduled start was delayed and when the umpires eventually inspected the pitch they decided there was no prospect of starting the match.

A statement on Cricket Ireland's X account said: "The match unfortunately has been abandoned due to consistent wet conditions."

The final game of the series is due to take place at Bready on Sunday.

West Indies have already played a one-day international series in Ireland this year, drawing 1-1 in the three-match tussle in May.

They are looking to bounce back after recent 3-0 series losses to England in both the one-day international and T20 formats.

West Indies are looking to bounce back after 3-0 series losses to England in both the one-day international and T20 formats.

The second match of the T20 series in Ireland is scheduled for Saturday.

West Indies have already played a one-day international series in Ireland this year, drawing 1-1 in the three-match tussle in May.

Keacy Carty's blistering hundred paved the way for West Indies' crushing win over Ireland in Dublin on Sunday as a three-match one-day international series ended in a 1-1 draw.

West Indies cruised to a 197-run victory on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method for rain-affected matches after piling up 385-7 in their full 50 overs.

Carty smashed 170 from 142 balls – the joint-sixth highest score in ODIs for the West Indies – with more than a hundred of his runs coming in boundaries.

He received good support from West Indies captain Shai Hope (75) and Justin Greaves (50).

Every Ireland bowler came in for plenty of punishment, with Barry McCarthy claiming an unwanted record while conceding exactly 100 runs from his 10 overs. That represented the most runs conceded in an ODI innings for Ireland, surpassing Peter Connell's record of 95.

Ireland were set a revised target of 363 from 46 overs after a rain delay, but were never in the hunt after Andy Balbirnie, who made a hundred in the series opener, had his off-stump uprooted by fast bowler Jayden Seales in the second over.

Seales finished with figures of 3-26 as Ireland were dismissed for 165 in 29.5 overs.

For West Indies, who lost the first ODI against Ireland by 124 runs before a no result in the second, this was a welcome confidence boost ahead of their three-match ODI series against England starting at the Edgbaston ground in Birmingham on Thursday.

West Indies allrounder Matthew Forde equalled AB de Villiers's record for the fastest one-day international half-century before Friday's match against Ireland in Dublin was abandoned due to rain.

Forde reached 50 in just 16 deliveries –- matching the mark set by South Africa's De Villiers, one of the outstanding limited-overs batsmen of his generation, in 2015.

In all, Forde struck eight sixes and two fours in a 19-ball 58 as West Indies piled up an imposing 352-8 in their 50 overs.

Keacy Carty had earlier hit 13 fours and a six during a less spectacular 102 off 109 deliveries.

Liam McCarthy led Ireland's attack with 3-66, while Barry McCarthy and Josh Little took two wickets each.

But the match was abandoned without Ireland even starting their reply following a two-hour rain delay.

Ireland lead the three-match series 1-0 after their 124-run win on Wednesday, with the two sides set to meet again in the finale on Sunday.

Paul Stirling became the first Irish batsman to reach 10 000 international runs and Andy Balbirnie made a century during a dominant 124-run win over the West Indies in the opening one-day international in Dublin on Wednesday.

Captain Stirling moved to a career total of 10 017 runs across tests, ODIs and T20 internationals with a knock of 54 off 64 balls.

"Delighted to get there. It was something I dreamt of as a kid but as a professional cricketer you can't dwell too much about it," said Stirling.

Building on the first-wicket partnership of 109, fellow opener Balbirnie went on to make 112 from 138 deliveries, including nine fours and four sixes, while Harry Tector chipped in with 56 as the hosts closed on 303 for six after being put in to bat.

West Indies pace bowler Alzarri Joseph claimed the wickets of Balbirnie and Tector before Matthew Forde registered three for 68.

Ireland's attack made light work of the tourists' top order to pave the way for a commanding success as Barry McCarthy and George Dockrell starred with the ball.

After opener Evin Lewis was run out by Tector, McCarthy took three wickets and seamer Thomas Mayes marked his ODI debut by clean bowling visiting captain Shai Hope for two to reduce the Windies to 31 for five inside 10 overs.

McCarthy finished with four for 32 after having Forde caught by Little for 38 at the start of the 35th over as Ireland wrapped up victory with 95 balls to spare.

"We needed to show more intent," said Hope.

"We just need to set the tone from the start. We know the firepower we have with quality players coming in at the back end. This series isn't over yet but we'll take this blow since they outplayed us."

The three-match series continues on Friday before concluding on Sunday.
