Skipper Hayley Matthews struck a superb 65 off 50 balls to enable the West Indies Women to beat South Africa by six wickets with nine balls to spare in the deciding T20I at the Three Ws Oval at Cave Hill in Barbados on Monday.

The win clinched the series 2-1 for the home team after they came back with consecutive victories after being one down. The two white ball series were therefore shared, with South Africa winning the WODI series 2-1.

“Disappointed about today’s result, of course,” said Wolvaardt afterwards, “particularly as I thought we had enough runs. But we didn’t get our bowling lines right – they scored too many runs square of the wicket and we got a few small things wrong. But Hayley played so well, it’s difficult to get her out. Overall on the tour I thought we unearthed some good young talent who put their hands up and made a good contribution to the team.”

Matthews said that she would have taken a target of 148 for the win and praised her team’s fighting spirit to come back from 1-0 down in the series. It was the first time the West Indies had beaten South Africa in a bilateral series in 12 years.

Wolvaardt had won the toss and chosen to bat first, setting the West Indies a stiff target of 148 for victory, thanks mainly to a superb unbeaten half-century from Miane Smit, her first in T20Is.

And although opener Qiana Joseph and Realianna Grimmond went cheaply in West Indies’ reply, an excellent third-wicket stand of 82 between Matthews and Shemaine Campbelle set the stage for victory, with Chinelle Henry finishing matters off by striking Tumi Sekhukhune for 4,6,4 off the first three balls of the penultimate over to finish with a breezy unbeaten 20 in 11 balls.

But the heavy lifting had already been done by Matthews who received the Player of the Match and Series awards after completing her second consecutive half-century. The Windies captain played with power and authority, striking nine fours and a six in her innings. Campbelle also showed plenty of aggressive intent, hitting her 42 runs in 38 balls.

South Africa’s bowling problems were intensified when Nadine de Klerk collapsed at the crease and had to be carried off with a hamstring tear.

Earlier, the 20-year-old Smit from Bloemfontein played a splendid innings as she guided South Africa Women to 147 for six.

It was just as well that the fresh-faced batter excelled in her third T20I because few of the other batters acquitted themselves well on a slow track, many of them succumbing to soft dismissals.

Wolvaardt dropped down to three and the team opened with Tazmin Brits and Sune Luus – making her first appearance in the series. The pair made a useful start, reaching 29 halfway through the fourth over, before Luus slapped a slow full-toss straight to square leg.

Wolvaardt and Brits struggled to pierce the field in their partnership, not taking advantage of a number of short-pitched deliveries. Brits had reached 20 in 24 balls before she slog-swept Afy Fletcher straight to Joseph at a straight midwicket. Wolvaardt played a number of trademark drives as well as pulls in her 28 in 24 balls before she would have been hugely disappointed to drive Karishma Ramharack tamely to mid-on.

Marizanne Kapp came and went quickly, clipping Hayley Matthews to mid-on while Karabo Meso under-edged a sweep to the wicketkeeper off Fletcher.

It was left to Smit to rescue the innings and give the West Indies something to aim at. The youngster struck seven fours and a six in her innings and showed excellent composure as well as good timing and placement – particularly in her driving – as she provided the innings with plenty of momentum in the last overs.

Compared to the miserable total of six fours and a six struck by their batters in the second T20I, South Africa struck 15 fours and a six this time around with Smit responsible for seven fours and a six in just 38 balls.

A superb half century from West Indies women captain Hayley Matthews led her team to a series-levelling six-wicket win over the Proteas Women in the second T20 International at the Three Ws Oval in Cave Hill, Barbados, on Sunday.

Matthews was a class apart of all of the other batters on the day as she spearheaded the chase, cracking an unbeaten 63 off 56 balls, striking five fours and a six, as they reached the below par target of 114 in the final over.

In the visitors' innings they found runs hard to come by, as only top scorer Annerie Dercksen, 21* off 17 balls (2x4), scored at above a run-a-ball, while Nadine de Klerk (20) was the only other batter to get out of the teens as they scored just 113-6 in their 20 overs.

The Windies were led by their spinners as Afy Fletcher (2-13) and Karishma Ramharack (2-25), starred, while Matthews was also impressive picking up 1-15 in her four overs.

Matthews was then assisted at the top of the order by Qiana Joseph (17) and at the end of the chase by Jannillea Glasgow (15*) as they got over the line with four balls to spare.

“It was a bit of a tough wicket to bat on today. We probably didn’t assess (that) early enough, and probably needed a player like Hayley to bat through the innings and kind of hold things together, and we could have pushed 130 then I think,” said Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt after the match.

“I have to commend the bowlers for taking it so deep in that second half with them only needing 114, but just too little (to defend) in the end.”

The teams now head into a series decider at the same ground on Monday night, where the Proteas will be trying to add the T20I series to their ODI series triumph over the Windies.

“It is going to be a very exciting series decider. I think we will reflect on what we did bad in this game. We won’t look into it too much, we will just talk about those little one per centres and come back full of energy tomorrow,” said Wolvaardt.

MATTHEWS TAKES CHARGE

Earlier in the match the Windies chase got off to a slow, but steady start as Matthews and Joseph shared in a 41-run opening partnership.

The attacking Joseph always looked uncomfortable after hitting two fours off her first three balls, as she only managed nine runs off her next 18, before she tried to go big off Ayabonga Khaka but ended up skying the ball to Masabata Klaas at short third in the eighth over.

The Windies reached the halfway mark on 47-1, but in the next over Shawnisha Hector (3) drove Klaas to Wolvaardt at cover as they slipped to 50-2.

Nonkululeko Mlaba, who was the pick of the SA bowlers with 2-17 in her four overs, then got in on the action, having Shemaine Campbelle (7) caught by Wolvaardt in the 13th, and trapped Chinelle Henry (3) LBW at the start of the 15th as the Windies slipped to 77-4.

But Matthews was joined by Glasgow and they steadied things before easing to the win with an unbeaten 39-run stand.

PROTEA  BATTERS STRUGGLE

At the start of the match the Proteas lost the toss and were put in to bat, with their innings getting off to a decent start as Tazmin Brits (14) and Wolvaardt (16), shared in a 29-run opening partnership.

But just as they were looking to get on top Wolvaardt sliced a ball from Jahzara Claxton straight to Ramharack at point in the fifth over.

In the next over Marizanne Kapp tried to loft Matthews over mid off, but only managed to find Claxton on the circle to fall for a third- ball duck, leaving the visitors in trouble on 31-2 at the end of the powerplay.

Things didn’t get better heading to the halfway stage as Brits tried to up the ante, but was caught on the boundary by Henry off Fletcher, leaving them on 40-3 at the start of the ninth over, which became 53-3 by the end of the 10th.

De Klerk and Miane Smit (13), tried to rebuild with a 29-run fourth- wicket stand, but both fell in quick succession as Fletcher had De Klerk caught by a diving Matthews at mid off, and Smit was bowled by Ramharack, as they slipped to 71-5 at the start of the 14th.

Chloe Tryon (4) was next to fall, caught at deep midwicket by Realeanna Grimmond off Ramharack, with the Proteas in deep trouble on 79-6 at the start of the 16th.

That brought Dercksen in and along with Karabo Meso (14*), they shared in an unbeaten 34-run partnership off 32 balls as they crucially got them over the 100-run mark, but it wasn’t enough in the end.

A stunning all-round performance from the Proteas Women, led by Tazmin Brits with the bat and Masabata Klaas with the ball, saw them clinch a thumping 166-run DLS win over the West Indies in the third CG United ODI at the Three Ws Oval in Cave Hill, Barbados, on Tuesday.

The result secured a 2-1 ODI series win over the hosts, after West Indies won the opening match by four wickets on the DLS method, before the Proteas bounced back with 40-run win in the second match, setting them up to seal the series in the third.

It was a weather affected final match, with six short rain delays over both innings seeing the teams go off and on the field throughout.

It was the Windies who won the toss and put the Proteas in to bat, with Brits leading the charge in scoring her fourth international century, finishing on 101 off 91 balls, having struck four sixes and eight fours, as they managed 278-6 in 45.4 overs.

Captain Laura Wolvaardt backed her up with 75 off 76 (7x4), and it was their 184-run opening partnership off 157 balls that set them up for the solid score.

The Windies' chase was then blown away by a great opening spell from Klaas, who ended with career-best figures of 4-25 off six overs, and Marizanne Kapp, 1-7 off four overs, as they reduced the hosts to 10-4 in the fourth over.

They showed some middle- and lower-order fight from Jahzara Claxton (43) and Aaliyah Alleyne (32) to get them to 121 all out, which proved to be well short in the end.

'KILLER INSTINCT'

“I am very pleased with the win, it was a pretty good performance from us to get across the line. We had a great start with the bat, it was nice to push 300 (runs) again, and then the bowlers finished the job,” said a happy looking Wolvaardt after the match.

“We (Wolvaardt and Brits) definitely had a purposeful change of mindset compared to the previous game. We really wanted to come hard up front to put our team on the front foot early on, and really attack that powerplay and I am glad it came off today.

“She (Klaas) was amazing. That’s the start (with the ball) that we have been looking for this series. To get them four down early was amazing, and it put us well ahead in that bowling innings. It’s that killer instinct that we’ve been wanting from the bowling group, so I loved that start.”

In the chase the Windies were set a DLS target of 298 in 45 overs, which got reduced to 294 off 42, and finally 288 off 39 after two more rain delays.

But they got off to a disastrous start which ended their chase before it began, as Klaas had both openers out in the second over, captain Hayley Matthews (8) skying to Nondumiso Shangase, and Qiana Joseph (1) bowled.

Kapp then had Zaida James (1) caught by Sune Luus in the next over and Klaas had Chinelle Henry edging to keeper Sinalo Jafta for a third-ball duck in the following, which effectively broke the back of the Windies' chase.

Other than the 65-run seventh-wicket stand between Claxton and Alleyne, there were no other partnerships of note from the hosts, as Nonkululeko Mlaba, 2-25, and Annerie Dercksen, 2-1 in five balls, cleaned up the rest of the batters.

BRITS AND WOLWAARDT MAKE MERRY

In the Proteas innings it was a stop start affair, with the toss delayed by 30 minutes, before rain chased the players from the field twice, with the Proteas on 207-4, for an under half an hour delay, and then with 4.1 overs of their innings still to go.

At the start of play Brits and Wolvaardt made merry early on, bringing up their 50 partnership after just five overs and getting to 100 in the 13th.

Brits, however, survived a pretty strong LBW shout from a fuming Matthews, before bringing up her half century in the 14th over, and was also reprieved on 72 when she was dropped over the boundary for six off Afy Fletcher in the 21st over.

Wolvaardt was relatively untroubled as she brought up her fifty in the 16th over, while Brits reached her century in the 26th over by hitting Alleyne for a four and then a single to reach the mark.

Brits was finally first to fall, skying a ball from Fletcher to Matthews at mid-on in the 27th over, and her dismissal sparked a mini collapse for the Proteas as they lost four wickets for 23 runs off 6.5 overs, with the hosts fighting back.

Wolvaardt and Shangase (9) were both bowled by Fletcher in her last over and Luus (4) popped a return catch back to Matthews, as they slipped to 207-4 after 33 overs when the players went off for a short rain delay.

On their return Kapp, 34* off 42 (2x4) tried to guide the middle order as she shared in a 25-run stand with Jafta (11) and a 32-run partnership with Dercksen (12) as they took their side past 250.

Jafta and Dercksen were both caught going aerial for runs, off the bowling of Claxton and Alleyne respectively, while Chloe Tryon (10*) was at the crease with Kapp when the rain came down again to end the innings.

Suné Luus, Nondumiso Shangase and Nonkululeko Mlaba led the charge as South Africa Women registered a 40-run win over West Indies Women in their CG United one-day international at the Three Ws Oval in Cave Hill, Barbados, on Saturday.

South Africa returned a much better performance than they did in their first outing as they mounted a total of 309/9. Nonkululeko Mlaba then had a big say, registering her career-best bowling figures as she helped South Africa bowl the West Indies out for 269 in their chase. The two sides are now tied 1-1 in the three-match series.

Luus and Shangase arrived at the crease 18 balls apart at a time when the visitors were struggling to get runs. Hayley Matthews, the West Indies captain, was subjecting South Africa to trial by spin. Things changed when the duo of Luus and Shangase joined forces to stitch together an 85-run partnership off 69 balls to wrest control from the hosts.

Luus creamed eight fours on her way to 76 off 65 deliveries. This is her 15th ODI half-century, and she faced 49 balls on her way to the milestone. Luus perished in the 43rd over, trying to clear the infield. Unfortunately, the ball was held up in the wind to provide Aaliyah Alleyne an easy catch.

This is Luus' new best score against the West Indies. Her previous best was a brisk 58 she carved in 2018. Her partner, Shangase, recorded a first of her own in the match. The allrounder disrupted the West Indies' plans with her good use of the feet against their spinners and took on the fielders for her 48-ball 55. This is her new career-best ODI score, her previous being 36.

Annerie Dercksen and Chloe Tryon put the finishing touches on the innings with a spectacular display of death batting. Then the bowlers came into the picture. Nonkululeko Mlaba's star shone brightly as she spun her way to a maiden ODI four-wicket haul and career-best figures of 4/33.

Mlaba came into the attack when the hosts needed a breakthrough, and she provided one in a big way. The left-arm tweaker was introduced in the 20th over, and she immediately sent Hayley Matthews packing. The West Indies captain had raced to her eighth ODI half-century and was looking menacing. Matthews fell for 56 off 58 balls.

Mlaba then claimed the prized scalp of the experienced Stefanie Taylor before the seasoned campaigner got going. Laura Wolvaardt, the South African captain, let her catch her breath and turned to her in the death overs, and she accounted for Jannillea Glasgow and Aaliyah Alleyne.

Marizanne Kapp, who was playing in her 150th match, made a handy contribution with the bat, scoring a useful 32 from 29. The allrounder then bagged a couple of wickets, dismissing two dangerous batters, Qiana Joseph, who starred with the bat in the first match, and Shemaine Campbelle, who registered her fifth half-century in the contest.

Shangase also returned an all-round performance. She excelled in the field, where she took a single catch and also claimed a single wicket with her bowling. Ayanda Hlubi, Chloe Tryon, and Nadine de Klerk also each claimed a wicket.

The Proteas women fell to a four-wicket DLS defeat in the rain interrupted opening ODI against the West Indies Women at the Three Ws Oval at Cave Hill in Barbados on Wednesday.

After the hosts won the toss and chose to bowl, the Proteas managed a below par 232-9 in their 50 overs, setting the Windies 233 to win.

However a rain delay during their chase saw the players go off for a few hours, and a revised target of 180 off 34 overs set, which they reached with two overs to spare.

In the chase the Windies were set up by openers Qiana Joseph, 60 off 58 balls (10x4; 1x6), and captain Hayley Matthews, 40 off 44 (4x4; 1x6), while veteran Stafanie Taylor saw them home with an unbeaten 30 off 34 (2x4; 1x6) at the end.

Proteas youngster Ayanda Hlubi impressed on the bowling front, the 20-year-old was slightly expensive but picked up key wickets, finishing with 3-50 from her seven overs.

“It was probably not our best effort overall today, we got caught on the back foot a bit. We had our plans in place but didn’t quite execute, so we will go look back at the little phases of the game where we could have been a lot better,” said a disappointed Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt after the match.

“I felt we were about 30 runs short. Had a decent start, lost our way in the middle and then left the tail with too much to do.

“It was a frustrating time for it to come (the rain delay). I feel like we were just swinging momentum back in our favour, and then an eight over game at the end is obviously not ideal.

“But we wanted to get back on the park and finish the game on the field. So we can’t make that (rain) excuse, we had 75 overs to be better in that game.”

FLYING START

The Windies chase got off to a flying start thanks to Joseph and Matthews, as they shared in an 88-run opening stand in under 14 overs.

Hlubi then made the breakthrough, having Matthews caught by Annerie Dercksen, which started a Proteas fightback as they picked up four wickets for 39 runs.

Joseph fell next, caught by Ayabonga Khaka off Hlubi, Realeanna Grimmond (5) was caught by Tazmin Brits off Nondumiso Shangase, and Chinelle Henry was run out by keeper Sinalo Jafta after poor running between the wickets as they slipped to 127-4.

At that stage the hosts still needed 106 to win off 25 overs, but in the next over the rain came down and chased the players from the field for a couple of hours.

On their return Taylor and Shamaine Campbelle (10) started off their chase of the reduced target well, but Hlubi then picked up her third, bowling Campbelle with the score 152-5.

But that was as good as it got for the Proteas as Taylor and Jannillea Glasgow (12) took their side to within one of victory, when Glasgow was caught, followed straight after by the winning single to get them over the line.

PROTEAS IN A PICKLE

Earlier in the Proteas innings, the visitors twice found themselves in deep trouble, before a late flourish helped them get to a below par but defendable target.

Brits at the top of the order struck 57 off 65 balls (5x4; 1x6), Nadine de Klerk hammered 42 off 38 (3x4; 2x6) at the end and in the middle Sune Luus hit 32 off 53 (2x4).

The Proteas innings got off to a slow, if steady, start as Wolvaardt (27) and Brits settled into a 73-run opening partnership, with them bringing up the 50 in the 11th over.

Just as they were looking to kick on, Wolvaardt ran herself out, as Brits hit a ball from Matthews to Grimmond at long on, with her whipping a throw back to the bowler, who broke the stumps with Wolvaardt’s dive unable to save her. (73-1).

Shangase (2) joined Brits at the crease and they added 21 to the total, which included the opener bringing up her half century in style in the 19th, pumping a full toss from Afy Fletcher for four, and a few balls later coming down the wicket and launching her for six over deep square leg to reach the mark.

But the hosts then fought back, striking three times in five overs as the visitors suddenly tumbled to 105-4.

Shangase was run out after a disastrous mix-up with Brits, who followed in the next over, pulling Karishma Ramharack straight to Grimmond at deep midwicket, and Dercksen (4) was dropped on two but couldn’t capitalise as she was bowled by a ball that kept low from Fletcher.

That brought Jafta (20) in to join Luus and they briefly threatened a fightback, with a 40-run fifth-wicket stand.

But another flurry of wickets set them back again as Jafta popped Matthews to Aaliyah Alleyne at point, Luus got pinned in front by Ramharack and Chloe Tryon (9) skied a full toss from Alleyne to keeper Campbelle as they slipped to 168-7.

With them looking in danger of being bowled out, De Klerk and Khaka (18) produced a superb counter-attacking eighth-wicket partnership of 60 off 56 balls, to get their side over the 200-run mark.

Khaka, who came into the game with a batting average of just 4.92 in 49 innings and a highest score of 15, played a fantastic back-up role, hitting boundaries and rotating the strike, while she allowed De Klerk to make merry, crunching boundaries all around the ground.

Khaka was finally removed in the penultimate over, stumped by Campbelle off Alleyne, while De Klerk was caught at long on by Henry off Glasgow in the final over.

The Proteas Women are set to begin their white-ball tour of the West Indies, with the three-match one-day international (ODI) series getting under way at the historic Three Ws Oval in Barbados on Wednesday.

The encounter will be broadcast live on SuperSport Action (Ch. 210) from 10am local time (4pm SAST).

Speaking ahead of the opening ODI of the tour, captain Laura Wolvaardt reflected on the West Indies' recent form and the threat they pose, particularly on home soil.

"They didn't have the best series over in England, but a couple of changes. Hayley Matthews is back. Chinellle Henry is back as well, and she's been a pretty key player for them in the last few months.

"You can never take a team lightly in their home conditions. It could be a completely different ball game here with them being at home, having knowledge about the ground that we're playing on. They're not a team that you can take lightly at all.

"They're a team that can easily take the game away from you with how much power they have. We're still going to do our due diligence with our planning and make sure that we're on top of our game come tomorrow."

The return of seasoned allrounder Marizanne Kapp, following her extended break, has provided a significant lift to the squad, both on and off the field.

"Massive. Kapp is obviously the best bowler in the world and she bats pretty well as well. She's like two players in one, so it's awesome to have her back in the line-up. Just her experience as well. She's been in the Caribbean a bunch of times, so having that knowledge and being able to chat to her will be massive for the series.

With the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 held in India later this year fast approaching, the ODI series holds crucial importance for the team’s build-up, particularly in adapting to subcontinental conditions.

"It's a bit slower here than what we're used to back at home, so that is good prep leading into India. Learning as much as possible as a captain, seeing what different bowlers do in different situations and trying out different things.

"At the end of the day, we'll want to start nailing what we're going to do come the big events, since there's not a lot of game time left. Playing the brand of cricket that we want to play before the World Cup will be pretty important this series, and hopefully stamping our authority and getting a couple of wins in the series as well, just to give us a bit of momentum heading into that."

In the first edition of the Proteas Women’s content series, experienced all-rounder Chloé Tryon looks back on how she was first introduced to the game of cricket before becoming a prominent figure on the international stage.

This throwback series aims to explore the personal stories of the players in the Proteas Women squad, offering the fans a unique perspective on the moments, memories, and motivations that shaped their cricket careers.

“My first memory of holding a cricket bat was at the age of three. That was when I got my first bat from my dad, and he always said, from a young age, once I picked it up, I didn't look like I wanted to drop it again,” Tryon shared on her first interaction with the sport.

The spinning all-rounder, who made her international debut in May 2010 against the West Indies in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, picking up a wicket with her first delivery of her career as a seamer at the time, describes the moment she received her maiden call-up more than 15 years ago.

“The moment I got the call-up to the Proteas squad, I was quite shocked. I was 16 years old, and I probably didn't expect it. It just felt so surreal that this passion of mine that I've been dreaming of, wearing the green and gold, was coming true. I was just so excited,” the 31-year-old added.

Now a seasoned international cricketer who has represented her country in a combined 223 matches across all three formats for South Africa, scoring more than 3 300 runs and taking 97 wickets, while featuring for various sides in T20 leagues around the world, Tryon reflects on her evolution as a player and as a person.

The DP World Lions all-rounder credits the challenges she faced playing boys’ cricket in her early years at Scottburgh High School for helping shape her resilience in the game.

“I realised it would be more than a game for me once I left primary school for high school. I'd been playing with the boys for a period of time, and it just helped me in my career. It shaped me to be the cricketer I am today. It was quite tough; they were tough on me, and they just helped me be tough as well. I learned so much from them,” Tryon added.

Asked what she would say to her younger self now, Tryon offered a meaningful message.

“I would say just go out there and have fun. Keep working hard and stay dedicated. You'll reach your goal when you need to get to it. Trust the process, trust everything you've been doing behind closed doors and just go out there and have fun. Don't overthink it, have fun and make so many memories.

“It's memories that will last a lifetime,” she concluded.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has today announced the Proteas Women squad set to embark on a tour to the West Indies for three one-day internationals (ODI) and three T20 Internationals (T20I) from 11 - 23 June. All six matches will be played at the Three Ws Oval in Barbados.

The combined 16-player group sees the return of the experienced Marizanne Kapp following her structured conditioning block, alongside seamers Tumi Sekhukhune and Ayanda Hlubi. Allrounder Miané Smit also earns an opportunity to make her T20I debut after recently making her bow in the ODI format.

Kapp, Sekhukhune and Hlubi replace spinner Seshnie Naidu and left-handed batter Lara Goodall, who were both part of the ODI Tri-Series against hosts Sri Lanka and India.

This tour will enable the Proteas Women to ramp up their preparations for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, with the 50-over encounters against the Windies scheduled for 11, 14, and 17 June.

The shorter format, taking place from 20 - 23 June, presents head coach Mandla Mashimbyi with his maiden T20I series with the team after his appointment in December last year.

The squad will depart on 2 June from OR Tambo International Airport.

Speaking ahead of the trip to the Caribbean, coach Mashimbyi commented:

“It’s an exciting white-ball tour ahead in the West Indies, and a fantastic opportunity for the players to continue testing their skills. The more cricket we play, the more we learn about our combinations and individual growth as a team.

“I'm very excited to have Marizanne, Sekhukhune and Ayanda (Hlubi) back into the mix. Hopefully, they will come with some new energy, and they'll be motivated to do well for the team.

“Sri Lanka was tough, but we took a lot of positives out of that, and whatever gaps we've picked up, we want to make sure that we brush up on them. I'm looking forward to that, and the players have been working to make sure that they prepare well for the Caribbean tour,” the coach added.

Proteas Women Convenor of Selectors, Clinton du Preez said, “As we continue building towards the 50-over World Cup, this tour provides a vital platform to further assess our combinations and give players the opportunity to stake their claim.

"The blend of experience and emerging talent is intentional, ensuring we’re preparing a squad that’s both competitive and adaptable in different conditions.

“The batting unit showed promising signs of growth and confidence during the recent series in Sri Lanka, and we’re encouraged by their continued development. With the addition of fresh pace options, our bowling attack also gives us more tactical flexibility for the challenges the West Indies will present.”
