Chippa United and Highlands Park played to a 0-0 draw in an Absa Premiership match at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The draw saw the Chilli Boys and the Lions of the North remained 12th and eighth respectively on the league standings with five matches left.
The Chilli Boys pushed for an early goal in order to unsettle the Lions of the North's defence which was marshalled by the experienced Bevan Fransman.
Highland Park were compact and solid at the back having conceded in each of their last four league matches.
Peter Shaulile, who had netted for Highlands Park against Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday, was working hard upfront for the visitors as he looked to score again.
The two teams attacked each other as they searched for the opening goal, but they could not find the back of the net in the first half.
As a result, the score was 0-0 during the halftime break with Chippa under pressure to secure a win in order to move further away from the relegation zone.
Coach Lehlohonolo Seema decided to make a change at the beginning of the second half by introducing attack-minded Thabiso Lebitso.
Seema was desperate to mastermind his maiden win as Chippa coach after starting his tenure with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City on Friday.
The Chilli Boys pushed for the opening goal with their Nigerian centre forward Augustine Chidi Kwem leading their attack.
Mlungisi Mbunjana, who is an attacking midfielder by trade, was introduced by coach Owen Da Gama as Highlands Park refreshed their midfield.
The two teams launched late attacks in the closing stages of the match, but they could not score and ultimately the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
