A lack of a venue in the Western Cape means Stellenbosch are being forced to move the opening game of their African Confederation Cup group campaign to Polokwane this weekend.
They will take on Congolese side AS Otohô at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday at 3pm in the opening match of their Group C campaign.
The fixture has been moved outside of their home province due to the unavailability of the Cape Town Stadium, which is being prepared for the Rugby Sevens tournament.

“Our traditional home, Danie Craven Stadium, and neighbouring Athlone Stadium, are similarly unavailable as they do not meet CAF requirements,” said a club statement.
It is not the first time the club finds itself in this predicament, having played matches in the group phase of the same competition last year in Durban and at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
They played the home leg of their quarter-final tie against Zamalek of Egypt at the Cape Town stadium but were then forced to host their semi-final against Tanzania’s Simba at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
In the Betway Premiership this season, Stellenbosch have been forced from the Danie Craven Stadium which is being renovated to play their home matches in Cape Town.
The shift adds unnecessary costs to their campaign as well as fatigue from the travel.
Stellenbosch also have Algeria’s Chabad Belouizdad and Singida Black Stars from Tanzania to host, but those matches are only in February, by which time they will hope that the Cape Town Stadium is available.
